For many meditators, the heart region is an interesting and helpful area of the body to investigate and befriend. What does your heart region/chest feel like when you are running late or arguing with someone? During times like this, the responses of the heart region can vary from person to person; responses could include tightness, heat, heaviness, pressure—any number of clearly discernable sensations. Learning to feel the heart, to be in tune with its sensations, and to take care of ourselves accordingly can be very practical and nourishing training. This Heart Breathing meditation brings awareness to the heart area and offers the practice of gently “breathing into” and “through” this region. I hope you find it helpful.

Work Through It
Stress has become an unwelcome guest in my life, usually due to interactions and situations with people. I had a bit of trouble shutting my thoughts off during this session as I had a stressful situation from the past on my mind but I took notice of my thoughts and forced myself out of that dark place, it's not healthy to dwell on these things. The idea of breathing through the heart was very helpful, I felt cleansing, as if clearing up a foggy window. I will be referring back to this one many times :)

A Light Came On
I know this may not have been the thrust of the session but in the introduction I caught something very significant. The notion of greeting myself as I greet others was very enlightening. I realized that if I were to meet someone just like me I would treat them so much better than I treat myself. I would smile at them chat with them and do my best to encourage them. But as for me, I treat myself rather poorly by comparison. In your introduction you showed me that truth and I now realize it is an area that needs more attention. Thank you.

I learned that
You just have to take a moment and time to just breathe though your heart and that’s a little something we need every now and then

Why do we always focus on breathing? Can’t we also focus on other things we do?

I great myself totally different from myself! I’m very rude to myself. And quite dismissive.

I’m not sure.
I feel like every one of these are about breathing and the sensations you can get from breathing. And while yes, I understand breathing is a huge part in mindfulness, but I’m not going to feel anything different if all of these make me feel and do the same things. Suggestions?

Sleep
Today was so full of stress and anxiety that all I want to do is sleep. I went to my audition, and while I don't know what they thought, I am so proud of myself! I spoke with confidence and sass. My accent, while not great was good. And I met several fantastic people. Fingers crossed that I get the part I am hoping for.

Today
I noticed I was very frustrated, sad, and angry. And to be honest I do not know why I felt that way.

Heart Breathing Session 1
I learned to take a few moments aside and focus on just myself. Self-care is important and I need to practice it more in my everyday life.

Breathing
I noticed that you can literally feel your breath pushing against your heart and your chest. When you breath calmly and stay relaxed, thinking positive thoughts to yourself, then this mindset reflects on how your breath feels against your heart and chest. If you take a fast breath while anxious and hurt, your heart and chest will feel then same way when the breath hits.

Heart breathing
The moon looked down on me, the apricot tinged cloud clung to her, like a gossamer shift. A sprinkle of stars glinted like fairy dust flung high into a darkened sky, suspended in black velvet. My heart ached, such beauty before me, it breathed in the vista, projecting my appreciation. I poured out my love, shot like a golden arrow from a bow it took flight, aimed at the silvered globe in the sky. My heart breathed and beauty was its reward.

Heart breathing to ease sadness.
I noticed that I was feeling quieter as I breathed and imagined breathing through the heart. My greeting to mys of was don’t be so sad! and progressively I felt that I did not feel like crying anymore. I feel better now.

Fail
I don’t feel like I was able to accomplish the session directive to breathe through my heart. I TRIED! but while I can usually accomplish the visualization of these lessons, this time the feeling escaped me completely. Oh well! On with my day anyway! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Heart Breathing
This was such a nice meditation...first of all reminding me to great myself as though I was meeting a dear friend. I also enjoyed the concept of breathing directly into and around my heart. Thank you 🙏

Hello friend
For the first time, I tried and greeted myself as I would a beloved friend at a meetup. It has never occurred to me to try such a thing but that feeling brought me a lot of joy.

This practice went very well with my prayer today. This practice made me realize that I must internalize happiness before I can exert it on to others. May everyone have a peaceful and blessed day! 🙏🏾😁
