Simple Changes
Overcoming your negative feelings to get moving is harder than the exercise/activity itself. Putting in the work, much like with honing mindfulness practice, can create a winning combination for physical and mental health.
Staying motivated 🏋️‍♀️
Everything I already know including the fact that I have to get motivated. Motivation is the problem for me. I’ll stick with an exercise regime for a number of months, usually during the summer, but always slack off during the winter. I have a hard time getting back to it after being sick or overly fatigued from weeks of stressful work or insomnia. I just started getting back into it again and I’m trying different times of the day. I started doing a light workout after work, I normally exercise early afternoon before I go to work. Exercising at different times of the day might be a good idea for me because I feel like I get stuck in a rut.
I knew this
I knew the information here. I just hurt my back a little while ago and haven’t gotten back “on the horse” so to speak. I have barely gotten back to meditation. And depression is kicking both my butt and my husbands. Not a good combo!
I feel less scared about starting to workout. I will look at it as a way of bettering myself as I do with meditation.
Physical Exercise as Medicine
Timing and tailoring a plan. Try a cost free exercise like walking. Give yourself credit for trying. As a medical need you should talk to your doctor they will have the best advice.
