Weโ€™re being pulled in every direction except the direction of our goals. What is it about this tech-heavy world that urges us to multitask, and guides us away from the very tasks we intend to complete? Letโ€™s think about why weโ€™re wired for distraction, and then take this simple and effective step to stay focused.

Detox ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ•น
I have thought about trying to detach from my iPhone and I do use the do not disturb function. Iโ€™ve already put computer games aside and started reading more e-books but Iโ€™m still hooked on computer jigsaw puzzleโ€™s. I know itโ€™s in obsession and I try to limit time spent online because I think it makes me lazy and I procrastinate. A device detox would do me good! Thanks (The Wild Within)๐Ÿ‘

Distraction
I am easily distracted and sometimes I find myself purposely distracting myself from tasks I donโ€™t enjoy. I need quiet in my life and time to reflect on why Iโ€™m doing certain things. I may not like the task but I will feel better knowing it is helping me get to a place I want to be.

Distraction
I have been getting ready to move out of town. My cat is not much help! But I have noticed that I am so focused on things being organized ( i dated someone, turned out to be a meth-head). I like my things in my home the way I like them. Example, he went โ€œawayโ€ in like 2004; and the condo that I owned remained with all the unfinished, disorderly, and finding most of the things that were special to me were in pieces all over the place. I had no idea whereto even begin. My tool box was a huge thorn in my side, that was something I was always needing, to put shelves back etc. and this toolbox was always arranged with things grouped as I needed- until i moved last summer, i just โ€œlivedโ€ with the chaos. So, the movers had no choice but to pack it up the way it was. Now that Im leaving this place of learning and heading out to start over, in a quiet place near rivers, i found myself packing the chaos into an organized manner- coffee cups dont go with the shoes! But this toolbox took me 2 days of non stop putting it back to the way I like it. I became tunnelvisioned. If I stopped to grab a soda, I would see something that โ€œwould finish that box in...โ€ I never got a sip of soda until midnight! The toolbox is 14 years of just acceptance- but, I am not taking any chaotic baggage with me anymore... I am so not letting distractions help me ignore all the years of rage, bitterness, sweep it under the rug anymore. Itโ€™s time to really let it go, and not let distractions hide that little spark I felt in this heart that hasnโ€™t felt anything for too long...huh, all that from a toolbox????!!!!

Relaxation
Before going to sleep listening helped me find a state of relaxation away from my phone and everything else.

Today
Using the do not disturb can help me focus. Today I also acted on my latest lesson of not reacting. I briefly shared without emo volatility and practiced acceptance and non Codependence at work. I clued into the importance of my facial features and can hooponopono when I need neutrality.

Truthful
I learned that combining my mindfulness exercises while managing my distractions go hand-in-hand. They assist each other and arenโ€™t as big of a burden as I believed. I can only benefit from focusing on MY management of myself and everything in life will fall into place in a positive way.

I learned that...
Using the do not distract button will help me focus better during the day. (I have only hD it on at night when Iโ€™m trying to sleep.

Priorities
Today I learned that although my intentions are good I am putting too many things on my daily schedule with no real plan on how to complete them, causing undue stress and anxiety. Itโ€™s time to be more mindful of prioritizing my goals and whatโ€™s really important for me to get done or give time to. If feels good to make a list and check things off, Iโ€™m sure would feel better if I was checking off the most important and maningful things. Iโ€™m giving myself permission to slow down!
