We can gently counter self-criticism by directing kindness to ourselves in meditation. We are not trying to feel anything in particular or forcing kindness, but gently countering some of the more critical voices we may have given attention to in our lives through no fault of our own. This is a process, and we may need to revisit this practice repeatedly.
