When we are beginning a meditation practice, we tend to have the idea that sounds are a distraction, and we desire a perfectly tranquil, or soundproofed setting for our spiritual endeavors. Well...get over it! Learning how to be with the present moment, exactly as it is IS meditation. If sounds are part of that present moment, use them as an object of focus to help turn your attention inward.

I learned that I can listen to the sounds non-judgmentally. I can listen to the silence behind the sounds. Sounds will not detract from my meditation.

Silence
People are afraid of silence. Whenever we are alone, we seek a source of noise, by turning on the television or the radio, in order to distract ourselves from our inner silence, where our actual thoughts can be heard. We should embrace this silence from time to time, and hear those words, feel those emotions, which we would otherwise oppress...

Sound meditation is always the best for me
I like to think a lot so it helps me focus on something else other than what I'm thinking about. I just need to calm my mind down at times.

I was surprised that I could experience some mindful moments in between these sounds and with them.

How have I never
considered the silence behind and beneath the sounds? I've always tried to somehow stop noticing or drag my attention away from any sound (or practice in as silent a space as I can find). What a wonderful concept, I love that I'm always learning new tools for my meditation!

As a Jazz musician I have learned that the space between notes is equally as valuable as the notes themselves if not more so. This practice bolsters what I already believe to be true in spoken word as well.

Avoid distraction
I learned that I can actually avoid distraction by zooming into sounds that I thought to be distracting :-) Change of perspective makes all the difference

Letting sounds and noises be,
without letting them annoy or stress me, being able to tune into the silence behind, is an ability giving me more freedom and ease. Thanks for the stimulus to practice and cultivate this.

Nirvana awaits
If I could master what was talked about in this meditation I will have achieved complete enlightenment. It's a beautiful day. I have my windows open and hear a LOT of noise. I live on a very busy street where Harley riders make as much noise as possible. I live about 10 minutes from one of the busiest airports in the world. I constantly have jets flying over my home. While I was listening to this meditation my neighbor was, and still is, playing excessively loud music, which they do every afternoon, and refuse to turn it down. I can also hear the annoying buzz of the cicadas piercing the soundscape. This morning I cut my meditation short because my wife was talking with my daughter about a video game. Reaching a place of non-judgment about the sounds I hear seems like a pipe dream to me. Softening into a place between the sounds? I can't even begin to imagine what that means. Maybe Sunday. :-)

Letting go
Peace & serenity & relaxation are excellent feelings. Getting permission to let go lead to these feelings. I look forward to the day when I do not need someone else to give me permission to let go.

Distractions are good
By allowing each sound or distraction of sound to just be ~ and witness, I am able to tune into my body. I hear my own sound speaking louder than anything around me.

We need to learn how to deal with sounds which r not distractions
1. Sounds come from silence; 2.As though, us as Human beings do; 3. We do need to respecti awareness and atention. 4. But this does not mean we have to be able do our meditation inside of an hermetica sealed chamber of time and silence.

Awareness of Sounds
I like the suggestion that meditation can be done amidst sound. No excuses...just take a break wherever you are...whenever it’s possible and meditate around or including the sound. It is so easy to think of the perfect setting for meditation but more importantly practice mindfulness of the moment.

Sounds😴Sounds😂Sounds 😴
There are so many sounds on this world my favorite is the sound of breathing. I can walk into a place and tell you which one of my children or family member is the one that is sleeping just by The awareness of the sound of their breathing. Sometimes it even relaxes me enough to put me to sleep. I love the mixture of the sound of my children when they're all sleeping in the same room and I hear them breathing. My husband has about 10 different breathing Sounds when he is sleeping. Each of his breathing sounds are different feelings he has. Breathing Laughter and Singing Sounds from my family makes me Happy. Those are beautiful Sounds I love because I know my family is doing good.

Not for me
I can't say that the Awareness of Sounds was for me. When I come at the end of the day, I am looking for something that will soothe rather than arouse my senses. Paying attention to sounds is not soothing for me. Ah well!

Sounds of Distraction
Many of the sounds of my world are not too offensive and when I hear them while meditating, I am more focused than when in a quiet room. I don’t get angry or frustrated by external sound; they are just there. If I do get distracted, then it’s just not a good time to meditate. 🙏

Sound sensitivity
I’m very sensitive to the volume of sounds and the complexity of sounds. Many public places are loud and have many many sounds. I’ve learned that i feel anxious because I can’t organize the sounds of rationalize them. I get overwhelmed and that leads to anxiety and fear. I’ve learned to carry headphones, distraction activities and make a plan when I get places. I even ask where a quiet place is, in case I needed it. Most places are very helpful.

Sounds
I learned that sounds are just the mind linked to our sensors (ears) we can control our mind to tune into any sounds that we choose, or we can choose to ignore all the sounds completely with our mind. The lesson for me is that sounds are actually like thoughts, we can choose which ones we really want to pay attention to. X🙏X

Today I woke up feeling a little anxious. I realized that anxiety is something you can overcome with meditation and breathing techniques. I tend to let distractions with sounds overcome me so this one was a little trickier. However I managed to get through it and felt a little more relaxed after.

Sounds of silence
My stillness and presence is within me. When meditating I imagine for a moment that i am submerged into a calm quiet pool. The sounds of the outside world wash away and I am able to find a comfortable soundless presence within myself. Great insight and something i will work on throughout my inevitable auditory distracting day. Practice.

Willing myself to find inner silence
When I sleep, most times I can turn off the world around me, withdraw my awareness from fingers and toes, then from hands and feet, from arms and legs, from stomach and even head. Centering in chest, then a mix of sinking and floating into a near dream like state. There is no light, there is no sound, there is no touch, no taste, no smell. To master my own senses each individually will be powerful tools to gain more mental resilience.

I felt happy, relaxed and soothed being guided thru the surrounding sounds.
I learned to be aware of the sounds but not letting them take me out of my meditation and be distracting. It was relaxing to go over them and move on and inward into my breathing. Ultimately, soothing and bringing me to happy energy to focus into my breathing and mindfulness. A little annoyed by comment of “finding silence behind the sound”, but otherwise fine...

Adapting...
Mindfulness has a lot to do with our being able to adapt & adjust to our surroundings & other people. This was a great practice to get us moving in that direction. Noticing but not connecting completely to noises going on around us allows us to maintain our focus and still free our mind by allowing it to adapt to what’s going on. Kind of a double talk for the mind, but in a positive way if you catch my drift.?! 🤨😉

Who would have thought?
Who would have thought that it’s possible to tune out lawnmowers next door, dishwasher emptying, barking dogs, a growling stomach and still be able to notice the stillness and silence. I guess that means there is no excuse for me to postpone meditation due to outside environmental noises. Actually, I am grateful to have that excuse removed! This works for me. Many thanks, 🙏🏻Namaste 🙏🏻

The gift that returns
I love this meditation because it reminded me that the more I manifest in my positive thoughts, and send those out to others, the more positivity surrounds me. Meditating on our awareness of self is a gift to our self that we can share with others and then returns to us again.

Awareness of sounds🎶
This message I really enjoyed. I learned that you have to look past the sounds. In order to have mindfulness and practice mediation you don’t need for it to be quite all the time. I am a mother of two under the age of three so this to me is a just a given. I do however I understand this, and there a lot of days where I want/need the quite and go into another room by myself. But, I will say I have mediated numerous times in a room with my husband and children playing or doing whatever being loud. I’ve done it both ways and both were successful and amazing so it is possible to do for anyone thinking otherwise! It is difficult and it takes practice but I’m here to tell you it’s possible! This give me hope and made me proud of myself for being able to mediate and have mindfulness in any and all situations in life. It made me realize that I’m a lot farther in my mediation and mindfulness practice then I thought I was, so that felt very good. It also helped me realize that I do have a little to work on as well. It was a good reminder to not let the outside world get to us. Be true to yourself all the time. No matter the circumstances, when there is a will there is a way! ❤️

Day Thirteen
This meditation is a good one because it allowed me to recognize that I don’t need a totally quiet room in under to meditate. I learned to embrace the sounds around me. Today has been hectic. Woke up to my dog licking my face, then she peed on the floor, then she got 💩 in her fur and I had to bathe her. Then my electric blanket quit working and we had to return it to the store to get a new one. This is the second one. I am feeling okay now. My body has been aching like crazy! Has anyone ever noticed how much sugar the Naked smoothies have in them?? I tried one for the first time last night and they have 77g of carbs and 55g of sugar! The recommended limit for women of sugar per day is 25g!!! No wonder so many people have diabetes these days. Everything has so much sugar in this world of processed food:( There is a shampoo reviewed that I want to try because I’m tired of putting chemicals on my body that are unnecessary for getting clean. Wish me luck lovelies!

Staying relaxed
I find staying relaxed during the day and helps unwind more by practicing deep breathing and drinking plenty of fresh mountain spring water especially at night and listening to coming soothing music along with removing yourself with people or objects whichYou think are the problem. Also helps in doing something like taking a vacation to unwind sometimes you just need to splurge on yourself and take a leap of trust and enjoy yourself and life as will.
