Connecting...
Our body is constantly giving us messages in the form of sensations. However, when we are identified with the constant stories we have created in our mind, we are mindlessly walking through space. Mindlessly walking through space, there is an obvious disconnect between our mind and body. Having this disconnect leads us to ignore the body when it is sending messages. This can lead to a whole host of issues. Thus, connecting our mind and body is a key component to obtaining overall health and well-being.
Mindful walking is a great way to build the relationship between our mind and body. Aware of the gentle movements of lifting and placing our feet, we feel the various sensations that the act of walking
has on our feet, ankles, legs as well as our upper torso. Finding ourselves walking on stillness, we are quickly reminded that we are always being supported by the earth below our feet. Feeling our feet on the ground, we find ourselves grounded in the moment. The result of this incredible feeling is that we find our mind not being bogged down by anxious thoughts as much. We are then free to listen to the messages our body sends us. We are then free to enjoy this moment we are given.
Moreover, whenever we activate movement, we soon realize that the energy in our body goes from contracted to expanded. Having openness, this energy becomes unblocked and thus, free to move throughout our body.
Even though we can feel more sensations walking barefoot, it really doesnโt matter if we mindfully walk with shoes on or off. What matters is that we connect our mind with our body so that we build a relationship between them. Building a relationship with our body, we begin to appreciate our body. Appreciating, we begin to want the best for our body and the importance of self-love and self-care become apparent to us. It all begins with awareness, connecting our mind and body.
