Welcome to this series on the Niyamas. Niyama is Sanskrit for “rules, guidelines, or observances.” Niyamas appear in Hindu and Buddhist texts, and they are best known as the second limb of the eight limbs of yoga, as described in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. The Niyamas or observances are an invitation into a radical exploration of possibility. The first Niyama and the focus of this episode are Saucha ~ the Sanskrit word for purity and it carries a two-fold meaning. Please join me in this beautiful practice. Send me a note! Let me know how you are living the practice of 'saucha' in your life. If you enjoy this look at the Niyamas, please be sure to catch all five in this series: Saucha, Santosha, Tapas, Svadhyaya, and Ishvara Pranidhana
