The progressive muscle relaxation practice can be a wonderful way not only to help you manage stress and pain but to help you prepare for a better night's sleep.
We often don't realize how much tension we are holding in our body until we really give it some attention. We might not even know what it feels like without the tension. This practice can help you increase your awareness and release some of that tension.
Be mindful of your body though. If there is an area where you've been injured, for example, avoid tensing the muscles in that area, at least without consulting with your medical provider.
