Combating Anxiety
It is important to understand the root of your anxiety. And, to remember it is not a permanent state of mind. What you are feeling is triggered by the unfortunate events in front of you.
Here are a few ways to combat anxiety.
-Change the channel- When you find yourself stuck in a negative thought pattern, give yourself a mental break by doing something you enjoy. This can help give you a better perspective on your current situation.
-“Is there anything I can do to fix this?”- Ask yourself this question. If there is something you can do no matter how small the step to improve your current situation...take action. This will help you feel you have some control over your situation.
-Deep Breathing- Slowly inhale through your nose to the count of 4. And, slowly exhale to the count of 4. Practice this for 5 minutes. I also like to recite these affirmations while practicing this breathing technique. “All is well.”
“I am at peace with myself and the world around me.”
Express your Thoughts and Feelings- Sometimes talking to someone about what you are going through and how you are feeling can help. Also, journaling is a good way to express yourself.
It is important to show yourself love and kindness during this time. One way you can do this is by proper diet and exercise. When we give our body what it needs, it is able to function at a maximum level. Remember anxiety is not your fault.
