Tree in the Wind
Finding ourselves in a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, we can feel as if we are losing our footing in the middle of a storm. In this wonderful meditation, we use our visualization skills along with the power of our breath to feel grounded and unswayed, like a tree in the wind.
Standing with my knees bent in my backyard, I connect with my breath and roll my feet back and forth to feel more connected to the earth. Using the power of my breath, I visualized my feet as roots of a tree. Receiving nourishment on my inhale and growing my roots into the earth on my exhale, I find myself gaining strength. Incorporating my arms as branches and leaves, I reach my arms up to the sky to receive the warmth of the sunlight on my inhale and lower them back to my sides on my exhale.
With my branches extended, feeling my leaves receiving sunlight, my roots firmly planted in the earth, I felt the chi, or life force energy flowing through my trunk and my branches. I looked around and saw that everything in my surroundings is always changing. Filled with new vitality, strength and well-being, I feel myself grounded and unswayed, like a tree in the wind.
