Forgiveness is not for others, it's so you could be free. Give yourself permission to forgive, and move on with your life.

I forgive myself
I allow myself to feel forgiven, welcomed, helped, held... Despite the things of me I didn't use to like nor accept. I deserve attention and regard independently of external pressures for it to be otherwise. I forgive myself for the hate and harm I have caused me, because I could not see beauty, I couldn't see acceptance, instead I ran after crooked perfection, remaining breathless, remaining weak. I forgive myself for the pain, for the damage, for the lack of self confidence. I forgive myself for the harm, the misunderstanding, the unbearable discomfort. I forgive myself and I firmly believe I deserve hugging, indiscriminate love, attention, companionship, understanding, admiration despite my flaws. I forgive myself.

Beautiful, healing meditation
I loved this meditation. I am just embarking on a journey of physical healing from the effects of stress, heartache, depression and grief. The grief of watching my beloved Dad disappear further into his dementia; of walking away from my older brother, and from my older sister and all of her family, due to the way they have treated me in the past few years; of realising that they have never shown me the love, understanding or compassion I have always craved; of feeling alone in this gut-wrenching journey with Dad. I often go through scenarios and conversations with my sister in my head, what I would say to protect myself from her bitterness and contempt. And this meditation has helped me to realise that I need to forgive them all so that I can become stronger for myself and for my Dad. I donโ€™t expect to ever be close with my siblings, or to even get back to what little connection we may have once had. And thatโ€™s okay. But I can work on forgiving them, and forgiving myself for my weaknesses and mistakes, and a lifetime of craving their love and acceptance. We all do the best we can do with the knowledge and understanding we have. Itโ€™s time to let go. Thank you Nitima. I will return to this beautiful meditation again and again. Namaste. ๐Ÿ’–
