Once you’ve decided to stop drinking it is incredibly helpful to get your family and friends on board to support your sobriety. Your loved ones have the ability to make a number of easy changes and small adjustments to support your sobriety and make it so much easier for you to successfully and happily navigate life alcohol-free. Your social and physical environment can either be a safe space for you in a boozy world or a source of triggers and temptations. One problem you may encounter as you start to change your relationship with alcohol is that often your family and friends have no idea how to support your sobriety. They may unknowingly say or do things that undermine your resolve or sabotage your progress. Or some of your family and friends may not want you to stop drinking at all because they also have a complicated relationship with alcohol and fear that your sobriety might impact their own ability to drink.
