Paying attention to the breath, sensations in the body, sounds and, for the first time in this series, thoughts. Until now, thinking has simply been a distraction, but now it too becomes an object of attention. What happens when we do this? The recording contains plenty of guidance for beginners. This is the sixth recording in a series intended for anyone who is new to mindfulness meditations, but also useful to people who might have struggled to engage with meditation practices in the past. Day by day you will become more familiar with different aspects of mindfulness meditations and exercises, and soon youโ€™ll be comfortable to guide yourself in meditation, rather than just listening to recordings. Even though these meditations are presented as a sequence, you may like to repeat or return to some of the recordings, I would simply recommend that you donโ€™t jump ahead, as you may miss some useful content.

Sound meditation improving
I can now add sound meditation to my skills! Observing my thoughts, however, still needs a LOT of work!๐Ÿ˜

Mindful of Thoughts
In this day six meditation of the ten day series, William sets our intention on focusing on what we have learned thus far in the series; our breath, sensations in our body and sounds. Then he introduces us to intentionally bring awareness to our thoughts as they arise in our minds. The key though, is to bring ourselves to just observe our thoughts without getting caught up into thinking about them. Sitting in a chair, I began to bring awareness to my breath and then expanded it to my body as a whole. I checked in with how my posture was and corrected it. Then, I began to observe sounds in my surroundings while trying to not label the sounds themselves. Leaving the sounds to subside in my mind, I tuned into my thoughts. It felt as if my thoughts were records in a juke box, lining up and changing with each moment. Instead of getting caught up into thinking about one thought, I observed them as thoughts, recognizing them and then allowing them to dissolve. This meditation taught me that by recognizing and allowing thoughts to just come and go is another conscious way of practicing mindfulness! Thank you, William! Namaste...โค๏ธโ˜ฎ๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Š

Noticing thoughts
When William mentioned being caught up in thought I chuckled to myself because he caught me. :) It can be so easy to do even as we come back to these practices again and again. No judgment. These stumbles are so very human. ๐Ÿ™‚

Noticing...
Day 6 was a summary of past sessions & the addition of observing our thoughts. Not Focusing on them, but becoming aware of them. Excellent instruction for beginners & good reminders for veterans. Felt like a โ€˜vanillaโ€™ session for me. Nothing bad, but nothing mind expanding either... I think that was the whole point, just to be! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ€

Difficult
I woke up feeling anxious and restless today, but I still tried to keep my habit of meditating. It was a very distracted practice, but Iโ€™m glad I did it.

Calming
I feel as if Iโ€™m getting to the point where experiencing these meditations is becoming calming and relaxing. I feel like itโ€™s helping to quell some of my anxiety in some ways.

Day 5!
I learned that posture is so important for correct breathing. I also notice I am becoming more focus and calm into the mediation with every session.

I noticed
Taking one of earphones off helped to focus on the sound as object Paying attention to the mind already reduced thinking so much But when the thought arises it is easier to get into thinking But perhaps today I could bring myself more quickly to observing the thought

Present moment
I learned that 1) breath 2) body 3) sound 4) thoughts are all experienced in the present and that using mindfulness is a choice to notice these is a focus that allows letting go of past or future concerns. I was very anxious before and at peace after.

Day6
I noticed thoughts and feelings are so close to myself than sounds and breath They come almost unnoticeable but to take a space from them made good space in my heart
