Today
Today I learned that letting automatic thoughts lead me will cause misperception. I need to slow down to identify the truth. Then identify automatic thoughts. Are they based in reality or an interpretation? Once I figure this out I will ease and be more confident.

Sharing this
I am sharing this with my daughter. This is her exactly. I believe we all use automatic thoughts to an extent. But I am always glass half full

Dating & Relationships
I learned to make sure that the automatic thoughts I have to any given situation don't run the show. I need to base my interpretations on facts. If my thoughts are baseless, gather more facts as time goes on. I need to slow down. She used the example of going out on the first date with a new guy. You both sit down, and just as the date begins, he answers a text on his phone. Great example! My mind immediately went to: forget this already. Writing him off in my mind. 🤔

Negative automatic thoughts (NATs)
Listening to this session really made me start to think about the negative automatic thoughts that surface in the day-to-day. For instance, I don’t like talking about myself, so when I have an opportunity to speak about myself, it’s often met with some kind of emotion. And it’s probably tied to a deeper feeling of not being smart enough, good enough, worthy. And then, when I have conversations with my partner, I assume the worst. Everything he says holds a deeper meaning, IMO, and I’m triggered to think a certain way. Which could be tied to: He’s lied to me in the past, or doesn’t think of my feelings, or he’s selfish.
