Breathing and Settling
This morning I was reminded that I need to focus on breathing even if it’s for just a few moments each day especially when I’m really stressed. This is key in helping me cope with daily stressors that occur with work dealing with abusive parents, defiant children, educational demands, evaluative demands, unprofessional colleagues, parental responsibilities, home chores, relationships with my children, grandchildren and my spouse, bills to pay, and the list is endless. School and all that I bring home from teaching are my biggest stressors. Preparations for upcoming parental conferences, Report Cards, grading, Documenting Tier I and Tier II Interventions, meetings, Lesson Planning for large and small groups, differentiation of delivery, material prep... It all comes home and interferes with my home life. I’m tired of being verbally assaulted and threatened by parents! I average 3-5 calls per month the Children Youth and Families regarding neglect and abuse of my students.
