Mindfulness Teacher and Mentor
In this meditation we focus our awareness on the movement of the belly/abdomen as we breath in and out. As well as helping us to cultivate mindfulness, abdominal breathing stimulates the calming/soothing system in the body.  Please note: If you are struggling with your mental health it's really important to seek professional help. These meditations are not a substitute for that but can be used along side therapy to help to support you. For more on Carla-Jo and her work please see www.carlajo-mindfulness.com

Taking a minute to just focus is relax is positive. Don’t stress about things that are not important. Don’t focus on hypotheticals that are negative. Breath.

Breathing Technique
I found this method of breathing to be an effective way to center myself. Just a few minutes of this breathing made a difference. Focusing on the movement of my abdomen really helped to let my thoughts go and reduce tension in my body.

Belly Breathing
I noted that this technique wasn’t new for me as I have been practicing this kind of breathing after being a singer for many years and is my regular breathing technique to begin with. This meditation was a waste of time for me, and I feel no more relaxed after this session than normal.

Let go
I've learnt to let things go because nothing lasts forever and neither do people

Belly breathing
Something I have already been doing for a while now. It is a part of yoga and mindfulness exercises. Still nice though.

Note 1
Recognize the thought but detach from it The sky is always blue. The river needs to stay still, thoughts are like rain drop in the river it ripples. Need to sit by the road and not try to stop the thought or direct it

Belly Breathing
I had a lot going through my head at the start of this but having that extra part of my body to pay attention to really helped me focus.

Taking time for myself is essential
I learned when I take quiet time for myself each morning my whole seems to flow better and more calmly

Take a breather!
I’ve learned that something as simple as sitting, closing my eyes, and focusing on how my belly moves when I’m breathing is very relaxing and helped me think of ways I could have better resolved problems from earlier that day.

It’s not easy as it sounds! My belly was quivering the whole time!
I will have to concentrate more and focus. I need calmness in my life now more then ever!

Breathing can really slow my mind
It gives me a chance to close my eyes and concentrate on something other than my thoughts

It’s hard to focus sometimes
I did this at my desk when I first got to work this morning because I was running late. It was difficult to focus on the exercise because I was constantly worrying about someone walking by my office and seeing what I was doing. Not that is really matters that I was doing it, but I didn’t want to be judged as weird for doing it. I found myself holding on to those thoughts of being judged for most of the session, which was disappointing for me. I felt like I should be able to let it go, but I guess that will come with practice.

Wind
As a gentle breeze, so are the breaths that flow through our bodies. Stirring leaves of thoughts that flutter by, our bellies sway like branches. As the breeze settles, we still stand tall, cleared of distractions.

Practice makes perfect
My mind wanders all the time but with concentrated breathing and a focus I can limit my minds path.

Breathing helps with relaxation
The mindful breath with your eyes closed is a great way to recuperate mentally and relax the body.

Belly Breathing
I learned that I hold on to emotions instead of letting them be fleeting. I am more powerful and capable than I usually allow myself to believe. I am able to accomplish great things and I am able to expand my knowledge by becoming more aware of myself internally.

Belly breathing
Sometimes I'm so stressed and tense I can't figure out how to get my abdomen to move so I breathe shallow until I can relax.

In Belly Breathing, I found it interesting and calming because I have never really engaged in a meditation that involved focusing on my abdomen and how it felt in my stomach. I enjoyed this because it allowed me to show myself more awareness to how my stomach moves and forms to my breaths.

Wow
This is my second meditation and I’ll admit this one was more effective than the former. While doing the meditation I was thinking about how well it was working and how at peace I was. Awesome.

It’s been a non-stop day. My mind is running in all different directions. This was a nice meditation to bring me back to my center and calm my thoughts.

Day 1
It is hard to ignore the distractions around me but I can tune them out and not let them disrupt me at the moment if I try hard enough. Due to an appt today I did not do this at my set time but I did come back and do it after my day was over to calm me before going to bed.

There is a rhythm to my breath, a flow that I can return to, to be more in touch with the body.

I feel so relaxed. When I opened my eyes I thought that I’m from other world - my world. Trust your body, your imagination, your mind.

Pranayama
Belly breathing is good for getting to equilibrium - say between two meetings at work. At home belly intake followed by chest expansion and abdomen compression - done smoothly gives me equilibrium plus energy. Pranayama is the easiest and most general in Yoga for the Mind and body. Thanks for this session!

Work is stressing me out
I learned that I am a work in progress. I’m under so much pressure to get tasks done at work that I’m overwhelmed. I tried to do a meditation to help, but I found my mind wandering...just wanting the meditation to be over so I can get back to work. Ugh.

It’s important to bring yourself to a calm throughout the day. Even when you don’t think you need it, you do!

Belly Breathing
While meditating, I can send my breath to my belly almost automatically. I just don’t think I’m breathing like this during the day. Still learning...and practicing.🙏🏻

Meh!
Didn’t find any true solace in this evening’s Aura offering! I’m feeling terribly anxious after my day today. Things didn’t go so very well for me, and now I’m facing more busy days helping my eldest daughter with an attempt to get enrolled in the local Community College (a project my mother-in-law has been spearheading lately, but she has to travel to Los Angeles to pick up one of our “unrelated family members” flying into LAX to spend the Christmas holiday here with us, and so is not available to move my daughter to and from the college the next couple of days). I managed to completely mangle my follow-up appointment with my new therapist today as well...wrong day, couldn’t find his new office, anyway. Worked that all out sitting in his new waiting room by phone and e-mail after I found the right place. Now I have to meet with him tomorrow at the same time I’m responsible for getting Aurora to the college campus for a test. Dunno HOW I’ll manage to pull this off! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Interesting
I don’t typically think of my belly when I focus on my breathing, my focus mainly goes to my chest, so it was nice to refocus that attention. The beginning was a bit challenging but once I set into the rhythm, it did help me become more self-aware of the way breath travels through my body. Very relaxing.

Finding Balance
I’ve learned to take time away from life and focus on me. Giving myself that undivided attention to clear my mind, relax, meditate, and pray. It is always important to give my mind time to just shut off, allowing my body to release any toxicity and negativity.

Breathing is difficult
My breathing seems to "get in the way" of mindfulness. Concentrating on my breath produces a small amount of anxiety and during my breathing exercise. I am wondering if my sudden concentration on an automatic process could be producing this anxiety?
