Befriending Sleeplessness
I’m learning how helpful it is, speaking as one with some chronic illnesses, to befriend our challenges. This was very timely as physical pain is making it difficult to sleep. I also learned how good it felt to think of others who might also benefit from this practice of befriending and letting go. I suspect I’m not the only one who immediately thought of friends who have chronic insomnia and I want to share this practice with them.

What I love about this meditation is that it can be used for things other than sleeplessness. I liked the idea of breathing in acceptance of whatever I’m feeling, and breathing out to let go. Accepting and acknowledging feelings are half the battle, but I always feel better when I tell myself it’s okay to feel a certain way.

Always enjoy the sound of Lyndi’s voice. I used this meditation the morning after a difficult night of sleep. We all have nights like this. Mine was not so much about thoughts but, my headache. This meditation still was helpful for me even so. I truly observed my headache and acknowledged it. I could not let it go like a thought but, it is still working on improving my skills.

Go to sleep
Breathing in acceptance. Breathing out resistance and letting go. It is okay to feel what I feel. Shift the focus.

Befriending Sleeplessness
I learned that it is better to calmly breathe and accept not being able to sleep rather than resist it.

I've learnt that its easier for me to accept I can not sleep than try and fight it This is helping me change the cycle and is a calming practice x
