Okay, thank you for the suggestion of these 2 sessions. I did listen to both. I realize that I am not quite ready for that. Only because I am aware that I do not know who I really am. The masks of my everyday life have confused the reflection in the mirror. I have faced this fact head on. I do know the sources behind my feeling the need to hide “me”. I also know that after all these years of trying to protect the me I lost have made my authentic self lost to the me I lost. I have a lot of work to do on finding myself again. Only now I have the intention of acting with courage to go get me back.

I learned that happiness is my natural state and I don’t have to look outside of myself to find it.

On the outside
I learned that I have some work to do to undo the negativity that is ruling my subconscious mind. Expectations are probably my worst enemy. I can get real low and pretty hard on myself when things don’t go as “planned”. On the bright side, I am grateful that I am able to recognize my self limiting beliefs which usually trickle down to guilt from my reactions. I can work on this. This was a much needed reminder that most everything I need is within me. 🙏

Having lost most everything, including, I believe, my life at least a couple of times through my massive stroke and the long aftermath and recovery, I do desire “things”, “need” things to try and get back to the life I had before. I don’t think these desires are necessarily a bad thing, or keeping me in a bad place spiritually. The drive to reclaim some of what I lost is one of the only things keeping me going today! It’s like a full-time job, struggling through the long recovery of my health and maybe my career...God and my family sustain my spirit, even though the struggle is HUGE!

This wasn’t a meditation, it felt more like a guide to reflect on your life and what you are doing with it. Was really nice tho. My father ALWAYS said this to me: the real problems in life are sickness and death, the rest, we create them. This sentence has followed me trough mt whole life, and i try to carry it in my heart, not trying to diminish my anxiety and depression, but knowing that there are solutions for them. I can and will get better at some point, I’m not hopeless. ☀️🦋⏳

Happiness over quantity. Do you need what you have or is it a want. Will it make you happy or a better person or is it a fleeting sense of worth. Forever competing to have the best or the newest, what does this give you. Technology changes so fast that you will never be up to date because by that time you are out of date. Have you ever just sat in a park, field, lawn and felt content. A roof over your head, a full belly, a loved one - human and animal. At that point you need nothing else. Don’t let advertising dictate your happiness as it will leave you wanting. Find that elusive emotion by concentrating on you and growing your inner being with love, understanding and authentic happiness.

Following and Practicing Bliss
I’m contemplating a different way of looking at Joseph Campbell’s advice (which I try to follow and, indeed, my life is largely based upon) to “follow your bliss.” The notion that we must do so, must “follow” our bliss to live fully and authentically, in this talk referred to connecting with dharma, is, indeed, what I believe one must do to create the life one desires—to achieve the outcomes we hope for our future. However, I’m thinking now that this word, “follow,” as vital and salient as it is to the concept, is actually misleading me (no pun intended) as to how I’m living my *daily* life and/or experiencing happiness and fulfillment in the here and now. So future-oriented have I been, so intent on “following,” that in my mind it has become a chase, and a tiring one at that, to follow my personal “bliss,” which is becoming a successful writer and college teacher. In this way, I’ve turned what I need to do to get there—eg completing my masters program, aka reading and writing—into a sort of tedium, when it IS the bliss, what I love, and so have chosen to “follow” in the first place. Thus, for pleasure, fun, happiness, in the *here and now*, I’ve been looking elsewhere—forgetting the simple concept and truth that it is not the destination (alone, at least) but the journey that is to be enjoyed. I’m doing what I love already so that I may do more of it in the future. So why am I looking elsewhere when I’m already doing what brings me fulfillment—or rather, why have I not been allowing myself the pleasure and joy right now that what I’m already doing could bring? Why am I making my own contentment so elusive by tying it to lesser pleasures and desires, making my life so much more complicated than it inherently is and, indeed, making myself unhappy when this IS the life I want—already, here and now—I don’t only need to follow my bliss, I need to *practice* my bliss. I see now that I have not been being mindful or practicing gratitude. I will change this :)

I’m feeling very vulnerable today. As an introvert I tend to isolate myself, and in these sad moments I sometimes look around and feel lonely because nobody is here to support me. I know the feeling of living authentically and finding joy in it. This is so authentically empowering!! Dorothy has so artistically verbalized what I truly believe in my deepest heart & soul. I believe life was designed to be enjoyed by our Creator, lived simply & easy. But we have complicated it by being taught & learning to judge others different from ourselves. Ultimately man has make rules & laws for living un-authentically. By learning the Laws of nature and living within them, life can become more enjoyable & rewarding again. I am continually amazed at the congruence between the place I am in my life, the seemingly impossible decisions that I must make, and selection of meditations that come up in my feed. I see that I have been making simple problems into giant complex issues that feel overwhelming.... so I avoid them. This weekend my kids are with their dad, and I’ve been in my own presence, my own space, and have realized that I must take care of me first. I must be in a place where I feel at peace, a place that resonates with my true self. I need work that engages my mind and fulfills my soul. I live on property that came from my grandparents. Part of what I learned this weekend, is that I have been living into their expectations for what my life would be. They’ve been gone for more than 15 years, and still I have been anchored to meeting their expectations of me. On this corner, I am Helen and Maury’s granddaughter. That role is one that I will always have, but it doesn’t define my entire existence. This weekend, I realized that in order to be me, my authentic self, I need to move to a new place where I define my own parameters of my self, my space and my views, my expectations for myself. And, what I thought would terrifying, is liberating and makes me feel alive. That is happiness.

By the end of the session I had a big Cheshire Cat grin on my face and Dorothy’s masterpiece centerpiece was glowing & exuding Love, Peace & Happiness!!

I Loved this session. I ‘saw’ Dorothy putting a beautiful, long stemmed flower into this magnificent vase for every thought she shared with us. Flower after flower being artfully placed into this large vase while keeping in time to her words. Each one perfect in its own right while also magically complimenting its neighbor & the whole bouquet/lesson being created. By the time she was done, this Stunning vase was full of Love, Peace & Happiness flowers and set in the middle of a large round wooden table with white linens & candles where we all sat down to Eat, Drink & Be Merry!! ❤️✌🏼🍀

I’m so anxious about my work/friend situation and all of the choices before me seem so hard. I’ve worried so much about others liking me and have felt emotionally tortured when they do not. The message I just got was a good reminder to look within myself for happiness and to focus on what I find meaningful, which is helping others and taking care of Bianca. Happiness is a personal choice. It is good to be reminded occasionally that our genuine happiness is a result of internal knowledge and self awareness. Dependent upon nothing else, no one other than ourselves, and nothing external, we do have complete control over our own happiness. Look within and there you will find it.

I’ve known for some time that you can’t base your happiness on others. What I learned is that finding your true purpose and living in accordance with that purpose is what brings happiness. I didn’t grow up thinking about a life purpose. At this late stage of my life, I feel I may be getting closer to what that is. Mindfulness practice helps tremendously.

True, authentic happiness comes from pursuing our purpose in life. Materialistic items and physical pleasures are only a temporary solution to happiness, finding what you’re truly passionate about and making it your lifestyle will give you real happiness from within.

I learnt that the world around us is constantly trying to make us unhappy, we overthink ourselves silly and our decisions (social media definitely causes this, more access to other people’s opinions & it takes your time alone away from you, therefore less reflection time). Happiness is a journey, not a thing, it’s a feeling and once you have a taste for what happiness really feels like, you want it all the time. And that’s why following the path of happiness keeps you accountable because you are always striving to feel that at ease and calm. Happiness brings a sense of calmness to me. I resonated with absolutely everything. Usually when I open this app and it goes to the "I feel" part, well I am only reaching for this app during a panic attack or heightened anxiety. Today i am feeling alright, a bit apprehensive but I didn't turn to aura bc I needed relief I just had a reminded and I did it. I selected "okay". And with that I learned that I shouldn't only do this with anxiety or panic. I don't want to buils associations and I enjoyed that 3 minute lesson more than any other lesson. I have listened to most lessons or talks on most apps and I enjoy them a so much and I was learn so much, however this was simple. It had the perfect amount of time. It brought me back to the basics & reminded me that it's time to get back on my path. My takeaways from this meditation are that authentic happiness comes from self-knowledge and self-acceptance, not from externals, not even relationships; though these things make us happy, on some levels, they are not the wellspring of the real happiness that is being discussed. Lots to ponder here. I think authentic happiness might manifest in a peaceful spirit (not passivity, but also not a kind of manic activeness).

I want to understand the essence of sentimentality it’s important to recognize the idea of not physical value but sentimental value we take our items where we make The uniqueness of object and completely transform into this one and only thing valued To the extent where it almost becomes useless and not sentimental and it’s sad because we repeat this process over and over and over again and continue getting these things that have no value to other people but to us it for some reason and it’s sad to see ourselves collecting these items and destroying them away quick one. Although deep I know inherently there was nothing wrong with what I did, I feel unable to relinquish this heavy sense of shame that has set in my chest ever since. Usually not a believer of dwelling on regrets, or in regrets much for that matter, I find myself wishing that I could rewind time and stop myself from taking that course of action. Meditating on the shame helped to alleviate it, helps to alleviate it. However, I still feel like I’m tainted in some way and myself (internally) seeking for approval that I’m not from other people I feel may be affected by what I did.

I’ve had this Life Coaching Wisdom session on my favorite list for quite awhile now. When I saw my friend, Walter had listened to it and wrote a wonderful reflection upon it, I decided to finally listen to the 7 min version and I am so glad I did! Authentic happiness does not come from monetary goods, a promotion or even going on a trip. While these things will give us happiness, joy and even excitement, they are only temporary. Dorothy defines authentic happiness as what joy exists exudes from within. It is acknowledging the good that we are and striving to live within that goodness moment to moment, day after day. We must first be happy with ourselves and be accepting of our strengths and weaknesses. I have been sensing a big change from within my being the past month or so. I believe that I’ve finally accepted ‘what is’ in my life. Instead of being disappointed, which can lead to anger, as I once was, I have Chosen to be happy. I have put trust in the Universe to give me the right things at the right time. Regardless of what happens, I know I can be happy because of sensing my inner wisdom...my deepest sense of knowing that everything will be alright. We can all sense and experience our authentic happiness! The Choice is Ours to Make! Namaste...my Aura Tribe! ❤️☮️🙏🏻😊

We cover it with layers of conditions based on external things “I will be happy when...(this or that) happens” until after awhile it is hard to find our Happiness at all!! After you get tired looking everywhere else for it, start looking in a mirror and smile. Smile, smile, smile! Your Happiness will start to rustle within you and you will discover or remember it has been buried inside of you all this time. Smile enough and it will eventually be uncovered enough for you to start to experience it again... and hopefully start to enjoy this journey we call Life again! Then it is just a matter of smiling more (or all the time) to keep it uncovered and available all the time. Try smiling whenever you are driving or are waiting in line. It may drive other people crazy, but it sure makes me feel Happy! You will get some looks & double takes which just makes me want to grin even more and become even happier! Thank you for this guided meditation, Dorothy. I often ponder what it means to be truly and authentically happy, and would sometimes wonder if it was easier to say from a position of economic and social advantage that one must cultivate happiness from within in order to be truly happy and that perhaps it was unfair, and maybe even ignorant, to expect those of significantly less privilege to do the same (cultivate an authentic inner happiness that is). But I was then struck with the realization that even though our circumstances and contexts may vary in terms of severity, struggle, stability and our access to materialistic resources or even the abundance of close relationships we have with others, when you strip all of that away, all that is left you. You are your only dependable source of happiness and while external agents may serve to reinforce it, that remains the unwavering truth. It also left me with an interesting question: Who are you when all of your materialistic accolades are stripped away?

In my experience, relying on others or external pleasures to make you happy is never fulfilling. Worrying about things out of my control: like what others do or think, and then subsequently basking in unhealthy coping mechanisms has led me to be very unhappy before. True peace comes from within and living your life in accordance with your values. First, one must become self-aware through honest reflection. Then you must be disciplined and focus on yourself and self-improvement every day to actualize the version of yourself you want to be and have always known you are inside. The choices we make everyday make us who we are.

We use materialism to assuage our unhappiness and mixed emotions as a way to connect back with what is good. We have not been taught to go inwards and reconnect with our selves, but have been trained by our parents and others that the best solution is a distraction from the momentary unhappiness in the form of a trinket, a cookie, a lollipop, etc. It's no wonder that we return to this behavior as an adult

To look within yo find happiness not at material thins. They will only make you greedy in life there’s never enough. Some people like the feeling of rubbing stuff they have in others faces. That’s not good energy.
