Silver Lining
Accepting that which we like is quite easy. However, that which we do not like, be it a loss or challenge of some sort, can be and is a very difficult process for most of us to accept.
According to what Jaisa quotes in her meditation, to accept is to allow. To allow does not mean we have to like or even love what occurred. Rather, it is an allowance of whatever occurred because it is already here. A way to aid us in allowing is through our breath.
Because our body breaths only in the here and now, we suddenly find ourselves also in the here and now when we become mindful of our breath. Following the subtle flow of our breath entering and exiting our body, we give our mind something to focus on. While our mind is busy focusing on this ‘job’, we are in fact, allowing ‘what is’ without even realizing it. Once we have allowed, we find ourselves no longer resisting and the beautiful light of peace has entered our body and mind.
With peace in our body and mind, we are more readily available to accept ‘what is’. Again, acceptance does not mean we have to like or even love what occurred. Rather, it is a choice. A choice to embrace peace rather than fear. With peace as our guiding light, we might just see the silver lining in whatever occurred. And, within the silver lining comes a great understanding.
