A lot of us have a negative relationship or a challenging relationship with failure. It's like we don't want to fail, we want to push it away because we’ve grown up with this idea that failure isn't an option when the truth is failure should be an option. We need to normalize making mistakes, especially when we first start. I mean, how can we expect to be good at something we’ve never done before - EVER - from the get-go? Seriously?! Come on! Let’s be real, we’re going to make mistakes, let’s accept it, then go get great at it.

The Learning Process Skips No One

Acceptance is a person's process of approving or being ok with the reality of a situation, process, or condition (often a negative or uncomfortable situation) without attempting to change it or fight against it. To accept is to allow, this state of allowing brings harmony - the state of being open to life, to let go of your “conflict”, of your opposition, and of your fearful resistance to what is happening.

Acceptance is the act of being okay with a situation without trying to change it, allowing for a state of harmony and openness to life.

So often in life, we end up putting so much time, energy, and attention into the thing(s) that we don't want to happen in our life; whatever that may be, usually the thing(s) we're most worried about and as a result, end up focusing on. But what if we shift our focus to the thing(s) we do want to happen?

Generally speaking, uncertainty and the unknown are something that we really don't like, it makes us uncomfortable, and we tend to not want to know anything about it. But when you think about it, there's a certain value in not knowing and to the uncertainty of our experiences, because it is from our most challenging experiences, that we experience the most growth.

In any given situation in life, when you think you're about to get it wrong because you so badly want to get it right, maybe drop your guard down and don't even worry about getting it wrong or right. In life, we want to grow, succeed, and be happy but often times we push away and try to control the experiences that will provide us with just that. We go through life doing whatever we can to avoid struggle, failure, and pain. We're so focused on trying to get it right and not get it wrong, that we're constantly interfering in our lives and not letting situations play out as they're supposed to.

We hinder our own growth by trying to control and avoid life's struggles and failures instead of letting things play out naturally.

Relationship Wellness refers to the relationships we have and how we interact with others. Our lives take place in the context of relationships, relationships with ourselves, others, and life itself. What are we doing to support, strengthen and embrace our relationships at home, work, our friendships, our loved ones, and with all people; more importantly, our relationship with ourselves?
